Beyond Bloomsbury, Designs of the Omega workshops 1913-19

I couldn’t help but be inspired by these amazing textile designs from the Omega work shop, I saw them at a brilliant exhibition at The Cauthold gallery. The designs were mainly carried our by artists brought together by painter and influential art critic Roger Fry.

The Omega workshops brought together many artists from the Bloomsberry group including Vanessa Bell and Duncan Grant, it aimed to encapsulate modern design within the realms of everyday domestic items, and really was extremely forward thinking for its time. None of the work was signed by the individual artist but all worked produced bore the symbol Ω (Omega).

These abstracts are so cool. I love that any section can be blown up to act as a compliment to the whole pattern. As in upholstery, drapery, or fashion.
